Review By: Blackbird (Inmate)

Building your own creativity in how you perceive a successful life.

Being a creative person was something I thought you had to be born as for much of my early life. Those born to be considered creative were lucky and the rest of us in society had to just learn to deal with it. If we were not considered to be a creative person it meant somehow we were lacking in skill and the best life work opportunities would probably be always out of our reach. I see that same thinking I struggled with a lot in jail, with many inmates believe that they somehow are not good enough to able to achieve the dream goals they might have.

This book by Okawa teaches readers that we all have what it takes to be successful in life and everyone has the creative spark to build something amazing. What is great about the book is that he just doesn't give you positive thoughts and words of encouragement, but he provides the readers with sound strategies of finding success that he used himself in life. One important part of the book for myself was that Okawa was open and honest about his setbacks and struggles in life as he tried to progress. I think often we only hear about how people created great things in an almost magical way, that only furthers the self-doubt of what we can do. I know for myself that this self-doubt has had a huge negative effect on my levels a of perseverance in the past. Okawa is always reminding the readers that our perception of reality and how we can shape it for the positive is through a better understanding of God.

I found myself reading this book in pieces going back and forth to sections that applied to me at the moment. I have a hope of starting my own buissness once I am home. I believe that this book would be great for inmates trying get the foundation of how to build a business because Okawa shares direct knowledge of how he built his own organization and some of the troubles he faced. I would recommended this book to anyone wanting to increase there work abilities and productivity.
