One of the best known true stories to be told

There is no other way to describe Erik Larson’s work than “Page turners,” but The Devil in the White City is one of those that you will certainly research online once the book has finished in your hands. Not many people will tell you about Chicago and what it was like at the turn of the century but Larson has done extensive research on the building of the 1893 Columbian Worlds Fair and put it all into a spell-binding story combining it with one of the most horrific murder mysteries of all time. H. H. Holmes and the story of the rush to get the World’s Fair built at the time is truly an interesting bit of history that is told splendidly in this book. The historical, pin-point facts will make you amazed at how this could all have been possible given the technology (or lack of it) of the era. Guaranteed to make your jaw drop at the last paragraph, I highly recommend this book to history fanatics and those who love the stories of 1900s American Victorian struggles. One of the reviews state, “So good, you find yourself asking how you could not know this already” – Esquire. How so true this is.
