A story of learning to love yourself through loss.

Mitch Albom provides readers to a sequel of his novel The Five People You Meet In Heaven. In this novel we meet a new character that travels to heaven and learns the lessons she needs to find peace in her soul. This book is filled with meaningful life lessons that as a reader I was able to apply to my own life to gain a better understanding of my place on earth. Each portion of this story is relatable to emotions I believe we all experience in life.

Being in jail it is so easy to constantly sit and think of all the mistakes of our past that have brought us to this moment. It leaves me sitting in my cell in a deep feeling of hurt and depression for what might have been. I don't want to runaway and escape from those mistakes and emotions that I am experiencing, but I do want to gain a better understanding of what all of this might mean. In that understanding my goal is to find a level of peace that I can share with others.

This novel is a great reminder that we might not have all the pieces at the moment to have the full picture of what all of this means. However, every action and mistake is just a new door opening with the opportunity to do better. If we understand that to be true then we must always keep working in a sense of hope for the future, not a guilt of the past. The main character of this story spent a large part of her life living in a guilt that clouded her view of all the good that surrounded her. I can relate to that. Maybe reading this book van help lift those clouds of guilt stemming from not fully understanding for you. I highly recommended this book.
