Is this book right for my inmate and me?

Love Does is a good book for people that might be unsure of where to go in life. If you feel that you have failed at things over and over again in life, this book can offer you hope to keep going. As Goff shares his life story, the reader sees how with each failure a lesson can be learned. With a strong growing belief in Jesus' plan for our lives, Goff connects success and faith in a deep, easy-to-understand way. We might not know where we are going, but God knows and that is what our hearts must be open to is a recurring message shared in this book.

Love is always the answer to finding your way through life.

Can we keep moving towards our dreams even when all doors seem to be shut in our face? Do we have the faith to pursue a life of true love? Author Bob Goff shares his life’s journey and all the lessons he has learned along the way that has brought him closer to God. With wrong turns and mishaps along the way, Goff gained a deeper understanding of what faith meant to him and his success.

Behind bars, it feels that so many paths to a successful happy life have been cut off from us. We lose sight of what true success really must be> with each painful setback, inmates feel further alone, having nowhere to turn> One begins to just accept that all things good are out of our reach for this life. This leads to a sorrowful existence, where an individual’s faith in something more is always in doubt. The thought of a chance of failure in one’s dreams means not even trying to avoid the pain of losing.

Bob Goff isn’t a genius. He isn’t the guy that all of life’s successes seem to just be handed. Goff in his own words is very much like all of us. Growing up unsure of his place and ambitions, Bob struggled to find his way. He tried and failed through numerous callings. Whether it was a rock climber, waiter, or lawyer, Mr. Goff found that the best-laid plans don’t always go off smoothly. Despite all the setbacks he became a successful lawyer that helped change some of the poorest lives around the world.

For many prisoners, the meaning of love seems to get lost. True love means sometimes just being there. Even when plans crumble and unshakable love of just being there unconditionally is many times all someone needs. All inmates are never alone in this type of love because this is the love that God shares with us. With this love as our source of courage, we can keep pursuing over dreams because there is always someone there to catch us if we fall. Faith is a tool that we can always keep and use towards our success.
