Review By: Recyclops1 (Inmate)

In Atomic Habits, the author tells the reader about his refined system to build good habits and break bad ones. In his system, the starting point of keeping habits is by getting 1% better every day that compound over time. After reading the book the one part that I thought would be helpful for me to stick to a good habit and improve with it, is in the 11th Chapter, “Walk Slowly, but Never Backwards.” The reason why I like it is that the author is telling me how to make a habit easy to stick to by using the 1 % manta, that it’s better to perform a habit no matter how little bit of it you do, practice it, the better I will be at performing that habit. The author says that to be better at a new habit, it’s better to practice it than it is to plan on doing it.

This book helps inmates with a lot of self-reflection by looking to see what lead them into being incarcerated and to break those bad habits while inside, so that you can come out as a newer person for yourself and for your family.
